Guelph Eramosa

The township of Guelph Eramosa is located at the Southern End of Centre Wellington, bordering the City of Guelph.  It was formed on January 1, 1999 when the former townships of Guelph and Eramosa as well as part of the townships of Pilkington and Nichol were amalgamated.

The first settler of the original Guelph Township was Samuel Rife in 1827 and throughout the 19th and 20th centuries Guelph Township became a centre for agricultural excellence through rural and agricultural education.
The Eramosa Township was established in 1784, although it wasn't until 1818 that Samuel Ryckman used the name Eramosa to describe this parcel of land.

The current township of Guelph Eramosa consists of many small rural communities including, Rockwood, Ariss, Eden Mills, Marden, Brucedale, Everton and many more.  The largest being Rockwood with a population of almost 4,000, approximately a quarter of the entire population of Guelph Eramosa.
